- The British Stagecoach is one of the interesting works written by Thomas de Quincey, a 19th century British essayist and critic, using the events he went through. De Quincey, who first made his name known with an essay Confessions of a British Opium Chef published in 1821, expresses with a striking richness of connotations how facing death in a car accident in which he narrowly escaped in his youth in his British Stagecoach stimulated his imagination. The car journeys he took while he was a student at Oxford University were an outlet for him to describe not only the details of the class distinctions between university students and other passengers, but also the speed of the car, the characteristics of the seats and the horrors of violence in surrealist language. Again, the strange events caused by the gift of such a stagecoach to the Chinese Emperor by the British palace are conveyed to the readers with the gripping narrative of A Thousand and One Nights in the hands of De Quincey.The printing of the product may differ from the visual.
