Nutritionist's Take
Colloidal silver is a suspension of fine silver particles in liquid, often marketed for its purported antibacterial and antiviral properties. However, nutritionists express caution regarding its use. While some studies suggest silver can fight pathogens, the body does not require silver as a nutrient, and excessive consumption can lead to argyria, a condition that results in a bluish-gray discoloration of the skin. Additionally, the lack of robust clinical evidence supporting its health claims raises concerns. The product is generally not recognized as safe or effective by major health organizations, making it unsuitable for those with specific dietary needs or health conditions. Therefore, consumers should consider the potential drawbacks and consult healthcare professionals before incorporating colloidal silver into their health regimen.
